Musk's xAI allegedly ran gas turbines without permits to power its Colossus 2 data center near Memphis, according to Earthjustice.

The NAACP went to court in May 2026 over 33 turbines in Southaven, Mississippi, estimated to release 2,508 tons of smog-forming pollution and 25 tons of cancer-causing formaldehyde a year.
